According to the National Council of Nonprofits, the purpose of an annual report is to to be candid and transparent about your nonprofit’s finances and outcomes. It's goal is to build trust with the community and demonstrate the agency's impact with the dollars it has been entrusted with. Check out EDEN's 2023 Annual Report—a companion piece to its 2023-2024 Annual Appeal—and let us know if we have achieved this.

EDEN audits its financials every year to ensure an accurate, thorough review. Below is a summary of EDEN’s audited financial results for the year 2022.
The current economic climate and impact of COVID-19 have greatly affected EDEN’s bottom line. While income increased 13%, expenses also increased—at a rate of 18%. Despite EDEN’s extraordinary record of success, these economic factors have placed great hardship on the organization, the people we serve, and on our community. Furthermore, stagnant/declining government support has led EDEN to shoulder a tremendous burden as the organization is forced to cover more and more of its operating costs.
Securing flexible philanthropic support will play a critically-important and ongoing role in meeting EDEN’s operational needs and program priorities. If you want to help, visit www.EDENcle.org/support.
In 2023, EDEN programs provided housing assistance to 4,623 households / 8,089 individuals. This means that almost 8,100 individuals were not homeless because of EDEN housing programs. Norma Herr provided temporary shelter to 1,109 homeless women. Imagine the impact on the community if every one of those women could achieve housing in 2024.
Here at EDEN, we are working hard to support our neighbors in Cleveland and all of Northeast Ohio. We have big goals and we cannot achieve them alone—we rely on the support of our community. Thank you to all who donated their time, talent, and treasure to help us achieve our vision of ending chronic homelessness and housing insecurities in Northeast Ohio.
EDEN is incredibly grateful for all contributions from corporate and individual donors. Because these dollars are unrestricted, EDEN is able to use them for where they would do the most good. Foundation and governement grants allow us to grow our programming and increase the number of people we are able to serve. It is also important to note that EDEN acheived 100% Board Participation in the 2022-2023 Annual Campaign.

In spite of EDEN serving a record number of households, our participants are experiencing skyrocketing rents, greatly increased costs associated with service provision, and reduced income. Meanwhile, government funding of many of our programs will remain flat in 2024. In order to continue to meet the surging demand for our services and expand upon the breadth of our programming, we must enlist additional partners in our work.
We have big goals, but we cannot achieve them alone. Now more than ever, we need the support of generous donors to help us increase our portfolio and continue to serve those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurities.
